Ethics in Human Experience in Space Design

CEU Credit:

1 AIA LU/HSW

Program Description:

This program will be an engaging conversation on how understanding impairment and disability intersects with design decisions and their impact on human experiences in the spaces we create. We will explore how a deeper understanding of impairment can enhance your ability to meet client and user needs, ensuring the human experience remains central to your design process. This approach not only improves outcomes for a diverse population but also creates expanded business opportunities. You'll gain tools to evaluate spaces holistically and move beyond the basics of compliance, fostering designs that are inclusive and impactful.

Learning Objectives:

Explain the contrast between impairment and disability in space-planning building design.

Investigate inclusive design methods to surpass current ADA guidelines.

Evaluate interior design accessibility with overall site accessibility

impact through review of several case studies.

Acquire a diversity-centered empathy response by participating in a sensory-challenge activity.
